What's on in January at Emma's Yoga Hut?

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

Hello and Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2022! My name is Emma, and I am a yoga student and yoga teacher based in Earley. I am thrilled to be here and offering the lovely people of Earley and its surrounds a special place to practice yoga! If you have been planning on taking up yoga, or have a new years resolution to work on reducing stress or improving your health and fitness, then a 6 week yoga course this January might be the perfect fit!

Emma’s Yoga Hut is a mini garden based yoga studio where I will be offering tiny yoga classes with no more than 3 people in. This means that I can offer really bespoke yoga to meet the needs of the individuals in the classes. I am running a Yoga Virgins class for absolute beginners, a Yoga For All class for those who are relatively new to yoga, and Hatha Flow classes for those with experience in yoga. There will also be a monthly restorative class; a longer session on a Sunday with gentle nourishing yoga poses and an extended guided meditation to help you really chill out at the end of the weekend. A full timetable is at the end of this blog post, or check them out in my classes section on this website! All courses start week commencing 10th January and need to be booked in advance because of the bijou nature of the yoga hut.

I am a yoga student of 25 years and a fully qualified yoga teacher and I am delighted to be able to offer the many and beautiful benefits of yoga to you all. As an instructor I am here to guide you gently into your yoga practice, encouraging you to step into your practice with increasing awareness and depth as we go. The classes will typically have a few minutes of grounding upon arrival to let you drop into being at yoga and step out of the chaos of everyday life, then we will move through asana (yoga poses) and some vinyasa (sequences of yoga poses), these will be themed around key points linked to the seasons or physiology or using yoga philosophy that can support us in our everyday life. Some lessons will include Pranayama, yogic breathing techniques that can help to calm and soothe or energise and activate you. At the end of every lesson there will be a peaceful guided meditation to allow you to hopefully float happily out of the yoga hut on a fluffy cloud of relaxing good vibes!

At the end of the class I will give you all a small card with a yoga pose or sequence to practice at home between classes (this is, of course, 100% optional!) it will be something we have covered in class so you can be sure that you are doing it correctly. This means you can build up a little library of yoga poses and sequences for your own practice without being overwhelmed by too much information at once!

Obviously, we continue to live in some pretty weird times with Covid, so rest assured Emma’s Yoga Hut is well ventilated as well as being fully heated and air conditioned. It is cleaned thoroughly between classes and left to air for an absolute minimum of 30 minutes between sessions. In fact, it is probably worth bringing an extra jumper and some fluffy socks for the start and end of classes as having the windows open in January can get nippy even with the heating on! Some rather nice lavender hand sanitiser is available upon arrival and leaving and I will be running test and trace, so if the worst does happen I can contact you directly so we can react as quickly as possible to help keep people around us safe and well.

There are yoga mats to borrow if you do not have your own, these will be cleaned thoroughly between uses and then quarantined for at least 5 days before their next use. Because the classes are very small you are in contact with far fewer people than you usually would be in other forms of exercise class. Part of the reason I am not offering drop in classes right now is to ensure that we are all exposed to fewer people, so it’s the same 3 people you see each week for your lessons during a 6 week block. I, obviously, lateral flow test regularly.

I cannot wait to welcome you onto the mat at Emma's Yoga Hut, any queries, just drop me a line via the “contact me” button!

With love,

Emma xx
